About Nick

Me.

I'm a technology professional with a focus on automation, virtualization and cloud architectures. I like to think a lot about how the emergence of these new infrastructures and platforms will affect IT in the coming years.

I have always had a passion for computers. In fact, I can remember my first one - a Compaq 386 that a family friend gave us because it was broken and they thought I might like to tinker with it -they were right. 18 years on, I've run away from technology and computers many times but I've always come back.

Currently I work as the IT Manager for Xamarin, quite possibly the best mobile dev tools company out there. Previously I was with SoftArtisans, a software company based out of Watertown, MA; I also spent time doing devops for their other company, Riparian Data, where I helped run an infrastructure built with Chef, Mongo, and play with all the fun toys that entailed. Before that, I worked for Quickstart Intelligence, a Microsoft CPLS where I learned more about Hyper-V internals than anyone should know, and got to help build an extremely unique Lync implementation.

I also previously worked with a few friends at GrubUp,where I served as CTO; building a saas product for mobile food ordering. I have also done consulting for everything from sole proprietors to Fortune 500 companies.

Despite holding down the day jobs, I still do consulting work on the side - if you have servers you need managed, or anything you need scripted, feel free to get in touch - I'm more than happy to help!

This site is a the personal space of Nick Couraud. While I touch on both personal and work related issues, everything here is my own opinion, and not necessarily reflective of my employer's views. Don't hold it against them.
